Make History Memorable – Bring it to life

I am very envious of this, I confess. Working with children in this way has such an amazing impact on how they learn and later on how they engage with history. This is so important. It really is possible to enthuse children and young people when you have their full attention like this. Well done! And for me? Boudicca is the one who will always remain firmly and fondly in my mind.

During the Winter months the Black Knight Historical team tend to be rather busy. This is when we have the opportunity to engage our collective passion of inspiring interest and enthusiasm in the next generation through interactive school days. From Key Stage 1 through to Key Stage 3; from Ancient Egyptians, Bronze Age Settlers and the activities of Queen Boudicca as she opposed the Romans through to First World War soldiers and nurses and into the Twentieth Century, we have a school day that can be organised to suit the requirements of teachers and students.
In the last few months children have learned about life in a castle or great estate, discovered what life was really like as a princess, knight or a man at arms. They have handled armour and weapons and discovered just how heavy it all was. Others have discovered how strict the teacher was in a…
